A furious Jim Vince couldn't hide his disappointment at his sides 3 v 1 defeat away at Mossley tonight. And the Shay boss stated after the match that some under performing players will be leaving the Club very soon to pave the way for new blood.

The manner of the defeat was surprising given that The Shaymen took the lead inside the first 30 seconds but quite frankly the losing margin could have been more but for second half saves from Jon Kennedy.

Town were dealt a blow before kick off when Craig Smith, who was due to play at left back, limped out of the warm up with a thigh strain and only 23 minutes were on the clock when Junior Brown pulled up with a hamstring injury.

The start to the game could not have been better.Town won a throw on the right and the delivery towards the edge of the penalty area fell to Adam Morning and he thumped home a 20 yard shot that nestled in the Mossley net before keeper Liam Higginbotham moved.

Mossley equalised 5 minutes later from a free kick 40 yards from goal in a central position where there appeared to be little danger.Phil Charnock's ball in was missed by everyone including Jon Kennedy and the home side were level.

Peter Moore had a long range shot saved and Justin Walker's 25 yarder failed to hit the target.Lee Blackshaw hit the post for the Lillywhites from close range.Danny Dignan fell under a Lincoln Adams challenge in the penalty area but Referee Unsworth was having none of it and waved the appeals away.

Danny Davidson replaced the injured Brown and he had a low shot easily saved by Higginbotham and this was the last effort of a half that finished all square at 1 v 1.

Adam Morning's curling cross almost set up Davidson within minutes of the restart but it was Mossley who took the lead in the 49th minute.A flowing move on the left saw Blackshaw skip past Tom Harban and his low cross was turned home by the prolific Mike Fish for his 9th goal of the season. And he almost added another 5 minutes later from another move that cut Town apart but Kennedy pulled off a stunning reflex save to deny the Mossley danger man.

Tom Harban's night got worse in the 58th minute when Blackshaw's trickery beat him again and he drew the foul from the Town full back to win a penalty although there was a strong suggestion the initial contact was outside the box.Fish netted and Mossley held a 3 v 1 lead.

Luke Hinsley replaced Harban with Nigel Jemson replacing Danny Davidson but there was no way back into the game for The Shaymen.A goal mouth scramble led to a goal line clearance but that was the nearest they came to finding their way back into a game that long gone.Kennedy saved from substitute Dave Hanlon then Dignan shot into the side netting as Mossley threatened further goals.

The manner of the defeat left Jim Vince annoyed after the game and he must now rally his troops ahead of Saturday's trip to Ryton FC in the FA Cup.
