In the first of a new series of articles, Rob Miles looks at a former Town's player's career. First up is Littleborough born defender Chris Lucketti.

He started his career with Rochdale in 1989, where he made just one appearance before moving on to Stockport. He never made a single appearance for the Hatters before he joined up with the former Halifax Town FC in 1991. He made 78 appearances for the Shaymen before leaving to join Bury in 1993.

Lucketti went on to make 235 appearances for the Hatters and won promotion from the Third Division in 1995-1996 and then from the Second Division the following year as Champions. He stayed with Bury for two years in Division One but their imminent relegation saw him move to Huddersfield Town in 1999.

He featured in the side that missed out on the Division One Play-Offs on goal-difference in 1999-2000, but was also part of the side that were relegated to Division Two the following year. In total Lucketti made 76 appearances for the Terriers before moving to Preston in the summer of 2001 for a fee of £750,000. Lucketti spent five years with the Lilywhites (the longest time he ever spent at one club) helping them to the Championship Play-Off Final in 2004-2005. As his career began to wind down the centre half moved to Sheffield United in March 2006 on loan and then permanently but his first taste of top flight football saw him relegated as the Blades went down on the last day of 2006-2007.

Lucketti moved on loan to Southampton in March 2008 but made only four appearances for the Saints before signing permanently with Huddersfield Town in July 2008.
