Injury Blow For Defender

Posted on: Sun 26 Oct 2008

Former Halifax Town defender Peter Murphy will be out of action after suffering discomfort around his knee.

Murphy, who is now playing for Carlisle United, has been out of action for a month and is now due to have surgery to fix the injury.

"It is still painful so, at the moment, he is booked in to see his surgeon again at the end of next week," Carlisle physio Neil Dalton told Carlisle's official website.

"Obviously we are trying to get that brought forward as we want to get to the bottom of this as quickly as we possibly can. It is too early to put a definite time frame on recovery and rehabilitation, or anything like that, as we will have to wait and see what the surgical procedure finds. Once that has been done and the results have been assessed, we will be able to update you further."

He made 27 league appearances for the Shaymen in the 2000/01 season.
