Former Halifax Town midfielder Tyrone Thompson has joined Blue Square Premier side Torquay United from Crawley Town.

Raynor said of Thompson`s move: "Tyrone had agreed a new deal. The kid went up north on holiday and as the majority of our retained players he was subjected to a number of offers, one of which was outstanding financially.

"Tyrone came back again, told us of that but said he would keep to his word and still put pen-to-paper. However, we felt that his heart was not completely set on signing for us so we told him perhaps it was best if he took the offer from the South West.

"It is a superb offer financially and we could not get anywhere near it, we all wish him every success."

Evans added: "He has been a super player for us and the fact he would have still signed speaks volumes for his character. We wish him luck and although he leaves here he will always be welcome back.

"Some clubs have huge budgets to spend and yes it makes our job tough, but things in life that are decent are never cheap."
