Former Leeds United and Halifax Town defender Henry McStay is close to a deal to sign for Coca Cola League Two side Morecambe.

The 22 year old, who has been playing for Belgian side Royal Antwerp, has been released by them and The Shrimps are hoping for a deal.

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy told the Lancashire Evening Post: "He is a super little player who can play either centre-half or full-back, and he could be a good addition to the squad.

"The lad got a bit homesick out there and Warren Joyce, who I worked with at Stockport County, recommended him to me."

McStay, who made 8 appearances for the Shaymen in the 2004/05 season, will join former Shayman Adam Yates and former manager Mark Lillis if he signs for the Christie Park club.
