Former Forest Green Rovers and Halifax Town midfielder Martin Foster is due to sign for Blue Square North side Tamworth from Rushden & Diamonds.

Diamonds manager Garry Hill told the club website: "He lives in Sheffield and the travelling has become hard for him over a period of time."

The deal is due to be completed later this week.

Foster joined Halifax Town in the summer of 2004 from Forest Green making over 100 appearances in all competitions for the Shaymen. He joined Oxford United on loan on the final day of the transfer window last year as Shay boss Chris Wilder swooped to bring in Chris Billy to the club. He signed for Rushden & Diamonds in the summer on a free transfer and has made 20 league appearances for them.
