On Sunday 4th July 2010 AFC Halifax will be running the Jane Tomlinson "Run For All" Leeds 10K through the streets of Leeds city centre. The race starts at 9.00am, so if you fancy a trip over to Leeds to cheer the lads on I am sure they will appreciate your support. You will be able to see the team as they will be running in their bespoke designed kit which has been kindly sponsored by TAG Tool Hire of Halifax. You will not miss the kit as it has Macmillan Cancer Support emblazoned across the shoulders and is bright green.
This year AFC Halifax will be joined on the run by a very special guest, none other than FC Halifax Town's very own mascot, Freddy the Fox. Freddy is running the race on behalf of his close friend and AFC Halifax squad member Johnny Bramley, who is bravely fighting this terrible disease. After speaking to Freddy he tells me that since fox hunting was banned he has done very little running and he may find this 10k very difficult.
This will be the 4th time that AFC Halifax will be doing this run and with the help of Freddy we hope it will go a long way to helping us achieve our target of raising £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. So far we have raised somewhere in the region of £15000 with a number of events, including a family fun day and rock concert in Northowram, a naked calendar and a race night. We have a couple of other events lined up for the summer including a football game against supporters from Bradford Park Avenue at The Horsfall stadium in Bradford. We also expect to have another event, with details to be announced soon.
You will have noticed that Freddy, along with players from AFC Halifax, have been holding a bucket collection on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support at the last couple of home games. They will be on show again for Saturday's match with Lancaster and hopefully these will be held at all the remaining home games this season. Your donations are greatly appreciated by our charity, who do an incredible amount of work with families that are affected by cancer.
Alternately you can sponsor Freddy online at his personal sponsorship page. The website address is www.justgiving.com/Freddy-the-fox
Thank you very much for your support,
