Town Win 3-0......

FC Halifax Town made it an impressive three wins from three this season after a commanding 3-0 victory against Welling United at The Shay.
The home side started quickly and with only five minutes on the clock, Lois Maynard had a powerful header cleared off the Welling goal line. The pressure continued in the opening twenty minutes and Halifax were determined to dictate the play on a blustery afternoon at The Shay. A long range header from Scott Boden forced Lee Butcher to tip the ball over the bar, but there was little else to really test the Welling keeper.
Welling saw more of the ball as the half played out but they also failed to test Matt Glennon between the sticks. Halifax continued to press as the half drew to a close and Scott Boden was unlucky to see his turn and shot inside the box flash wide of the post.
The second half started with real purpose and after just two minutes of play, captain Marc Roberts powered up at the back post following a Paul Marshall corner, and headed home his second goal in the opening three games.
Halifax were flying now and The Shaymen doubled their lead just four minutes later. Scott Boden delicately played the ball into the path of substitute Richard Peniket and he calmly slotted the ball home to make it 2-0.
The closest that Welling came to a goal was following a Halifax free-kick, a flick on by a defender found the post and they narrowly avoided conceding an own goal.
The game was made safe in the 78th minute as Steve Williams met a corner kick at the back post, headed it back across goal and Richard Peniket was there to stab it in for his second of the afternoon.
Second half substitute Jamie Jackson was as lively as ever when he came on at half time and he nearly made it four, but his attempted cross skimmed across the top of the cross bar.
With minutes to go, Roberts nearly made it three goals in three games but his header was hacked off the line following a Paul Marshall corner.
Halifax will aim to make it four from four next week as they travel to Chester on Saturday 23rd August.
