Wrexham: Preview

FC Halifax Town will take on Wrexham FC this Tuesday evening at The Shay.

Town will be look to bounce back quickly after Saturday’s disappointing 1-3 defeat at home to Altrincham.

It was Town’s first league defeat at home of the season, whilst it was Altrincham’s first win on their travels.

Wrexham will also be looking to get back to winning ways, after they suffered 2-1 defeat on the road, to fellow promotion hopefuls Torquay United.

Despite the defeat Town remained in second place, Wrexham dropped to 7th. However, with only two points separating the sides, a win for the away side would see them leapfrog Town, so this is a huge game for both.

Current Form:

Prior to the home defeat to Altrincham, Town were unbeaten in four games in the league. The hiccup against The Robins was The Shaymen’s first defeat since the away loss at Forest Green, and only their second since August. Wrexham have been in impressive form of late, having come through a very testing set of fixtures with four wins in their last six games. Home wins against Welling, Eastleigh and Kidderminster, and most notably an away win at table topping Barnet got the Welsh side back on track after a shaky start.

Key Man:

Town will have to be wary of the threat posed by Wrexham’s Louis Moult. Moult has already netted six times this season for ‘The Dragons’ and he will be looking to add to that tally come Tuesday. Moult started his career at Stoke as a scholar. However with little opportunities being presented, it led to multiple loan spells, including Bradford, Mansfield and Nuneaton. He went onto to sign for Northampton Town permanently, and after another spell at Nuneaton he signed for Wrexham this summer.

Last Meeting:

The last meeting between the two sides was last season when the two sides drew 0-0 at the Racecourse. In the return fixture, the Shaymen won 3-2 at the Shay.
