Town Entertain.....

FC Halifax Town return back home on Saturday 21st September as they welcome Forest Green Rovers to the Shay. Town will look to get back to winning ways at home after losing their last two at the Shay, although they will remain buoyed by their first league win on the road at Dartford last Saturday. Rovers, who spent a vast amount last summer, sit in a disappointing 12th place in the Skrill Conference Premier table, but are looking to complete a league double over Town after September’s 2-1 win. Team News Neil Aspin has no real change in his squad’s availability, as Danny Lowe, Ryan Toulson and Lee Gregory all remain out. Marc Roberts made his triumphant return at Dartford and will be fit to continue alongside Simon Ainge">Simon Ainge in defence. Lois Maynard should remain at right-back after impressing last time out, while Neil Aspin may be tempted to name an unchanged side against Rovers, after finally breaking his away duck at Dartford. Current Form Forest Green Rovers remain a difficult team to predict, despite their impressive and expensive squad. The Green lost every game they played in October, but have bounced back by losing just once in the last six weeks. Despite Tuesday’s disappointment against Chorley in the FA Trophy, they won at Salisbury in their last league game, and know they can take a further step towards the play-off places with a win at the Shay. Key Man Despite bringing in new boys Matthew Barnes-Homer, Danny Wright and Andy Mangan in during the summer, the goal-scoring responsibility has fallen on James Norwood, and he has relished it. The former Exeter City man has nine goals so far this campaign, and even scored for the England ‘C’ team to snatch his side a late 2-2 draw with Bermuda in November. Down The Years These two sides have now met 13 times, and can’t be separated – Town have won four, as have Rovers, while the other five occasions have ended in stalemate. It’s fair to say Saturday’s visitors have had the upper hand in recent years, having triumphed in each of the last five meetings between the two. Last Meeting These two last met in September, in a game most Shaymen fans will have found difficult to forget. Dan Gardner’s first half penalty had looked like handing Town their first away win of the season, only for two injury-time strikes from Magno Viera and Anthony Barry to snatch the points for Rovers. Played For Both There’s been six players who have represented both clubs with the most noticeable player being Ian Fitzpatrick who started his career at Manchester United before making his Town debut in the 2000/01 season, the winger went on to make 92 league appearances for the Shaymen over three seasons scoring 15 goals. Defender Denny Ingram who played 64 times in the league for the Shaymen started his career at Forest Green and other players who have played for both include, Martin Foster, Alex Meechan, Matthew Russell and Gareth Stoker.
